Ep. 006: Eric Cerda – Animator for Radical Axis, Soup 2 Nuts, Disney Interactive and more! – Part I

EricCerdaPhoto

Eric Cerda is no stranger to the world of animation. After seeing Who Framed Roger Rabbit he knew that the animator’s path was the way for him. He attended the Savannah College of Art and Design during the end of feature 2D animation in the United States with the resolve of finding a career in animation no matter the cost. He pursued his dream by visiting and cold-calling studios, and working as a waiter before getting his first gig at Radical Axis. While at the studio he worked on Adult Swim stalwarts like Squidbillies and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Later he joined the animation team at Soup to Nuts to animate on PBS’ Word Girl, worked at Disney Interactive in San Francisco and eventually worked with one of his animation heroes, Eric Goldberg. In part 1 of this two part episode Eric discusses his early years and what it took for him to get his first job. It’s an inspiring story for anyone hoping to break into the field!
